Distribution History

Because he didn't have a factory yet, Laura Scudder used to make the wax paper bags, and Herman Lay and Laura packaged them themselves to sell in the beginning. This caused Herman Lay to have to use his car to begin selling bags of chips out of his trunk. Then he bought his first factory and was able to use trucks to drive the potato chips from the Atlanta factory that was making them, to Tennessee where he was selling them in his store. After his factory became popular, he joined with Frito Lay and then they Frito Lay began selling their products in grocery stores.

Closing statement: An issue relate to the distribution of the past was the time it took in the beginning for them to hand make the bags for their product, and then the fuel all the cars and trucks were using to transport bags frequently. If they were being made before their was a factory, it's likely they were made one at a time and if they had to push the product out quickly, it would make sense that there would need to be several deliveries a week instead of being able to ship say 15,000 bags at once with a factory and a giant moving truck. This must have used a lot of time and fuel.
